Welcome to the Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca, literally translated as the ‘white coast’, refers to a 200-kilometer Mediterranean coastline in south-eastern Spain. The area’s excellent climate, the splendor of its natural beauty, its beaches, its Spanish charm, and its good accessibility make it an extremely popular region whose main income is from tourism.
In recent years, the Costa Blanca has become an absolute magnet for nationalities including Belgians, Scandinavians, British, Germans and French, who have bought second homes there.
And that is only logical, because the region has captured the hearts of millions of people.
Laze on a sunny beach, catch a great game of golf with friends, or take in some culture? In this region, you are spoiled for choice!
Landscape on the Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca stretches from Dénia in the north to Pilar de la Horadada in the south, and from Orihuela to the valleys of Marina Alta. The landscape is defined by mountains and cliffs alternating with tantalizing glimpses of the turquoise Mediterranean Sea, spectacular sandy beaches and bays.
Fertile valleys where different crops are grown give the region character. The natural beauty and lush forests put the final touch on the idyllic landscape.
Culture on the Costa Blanca
Thanks to numerous archaeological discoveries, breath-taking art and monuments and over a hundred castles and fortifications from the Middle Ages, this region is a true cultural treasure chest. Together with the Moorish influences, all these sights reflect an extensive history enriched by a variety of cultures.
Gastronomy on the Costa Blanca
Both the coast and the interior of the Costa Blanca offer a wide palette of restaurants that offer the very best of Spanish gastronomy. In addition, there are several wineries that produce popular wines and are certainly worth a visit.
Small, picturesque villages form a striking contrast to the famous tourist areas with their intense nightlife. These factors make this region one of the most attractive tourist and residential destinations in Europe, where you can enjoy sun, sea, beach and nature.
And all of this is made accessible by an extensive infrastructure: two airports, an extensive railway, and motorway network and several ports that make traveling easy.
Something for everyone
The Costa Blanca offers innumerable leisure options such as the amusement parks Terra Mitica, Aqualandia, Mundomar and Terra Natura.
“Shop ‘till you drop” in one of the many shopping malls or on the boulevards, enjoy the refreshing Mediterranean breeze while sailing or feel like a pro golfer on one of the dozens of golf courses.
Sports, diving, hiking, cycling… enjoy them all on the Costa Blanca!
Costa Blanca: North and south
The Costa Blanca is one of Spain’s most expansive Costas. Because of its scope, this coast is often divided into the Costa Blanca North and the Costa Blanca South. The vibrant city of Alicante sparkles in the heart of this coastline, forming a boundary between the two zones.
Although the distance from the far north to the south is limited (about 200 km), there is a big difference in terms of climate and vegetation.
Between Dénia and Alicante, the landscape is lush, with verdant mountains and valleys, orchards and rugged coastlines.
Due to its popularity and limited building land, there has been dense development on the slopes here, making prices higher than on the Costa Blanca South.
Between Alicante and Cartagena, you will find several lively cities with a flavour of many cultures. This region continues to invest in a reliable, growing infrastructure and such facilities as hospitals and schools that meet the needs of the inhabitants. The coast offers splendid sandy beaches, crowned with the blue flag. The landscape is hilly and sun-drenched.
To help you enjoy the green character of the Costa Blanca South, it offers many great golf courses, often with the bonus of panoramic sea views. Apartments and villas located in residential areas here have a more spacious feeling in terms of construction.
Venturing inland, you experience the genuine character of old Spain.
