Discover Moraira!

Moraira was a traditional fishing village on the Costa Blanca that grew to eventually become a popular holiday spot. Moraira is unique compared to many other beach resorts. There is not an overabundance of high-rise buildings and hotels, but you will find a pleasant beach resort with a great atmosphere!

Moraira – Teulada

Moraira is located on the coast. It was originally a fishing village and is very touristy. Teulada, on the other hand, lies 6 km inland and is rather quiet. The residents are mainly farmers.

Although Moraira is touristy, it continues to be a charming destination. No high apartment buildings or hotel complexes that dominate the view. The centre, about 25 streets, has buildings that are 5 storeys high at most.

Moreover, the centre is located next to a marina, with numerous pleasure craft and fishing boats. Also located here is the fish market where you can buy fresh fish on a daily basis.

Moraira is sophisticated and has numerous delicious restaurants, interesting shops, etc..

Culture

The Castillo de Moraira (castle) is often referred to as Castillo del Mar (Sea Castle) because it looks over the beach. But do not expect a huge structure. A visit to the castle will not take all that much time.

The area also has various churches and chapels, including the ‚Eglésia fortalesa de Santa Caterina’, which has the oldest organ of the province.

True culture lovers will go to other destinations along the Costa Blanca. But is what is so unique. Each beach resort has its own characteristics and assets.

Wine? Yes, please!

The ‚San Vincente Ferrer Cooperative’ is the producer of prize-winning wines made from the Teulada grapes.

The Marina Alta is a sweet white wine made from the Muscat grape, which gives it an aromatic and fruity taste.

The Moscatel (Muscat wine) is made from the Moscatel Romano grape and is considered a real winner!

‚Mistela’

This popular liqueur is made from the Moscatel grape, and is known for its very sweet taste. It is ideal to accompany desserts.

Beach

The coastline, about 8 km long, has various little bays and absolutely beautiful sandy beaches. ‚Les Platgetes’ is the most popular, followed by ‚El Portet’, ideal for windsurfing, and ‚L’Ampolia’, where it is great to stay with the family. These are all beautiful sandy beaches with crystal clear blue seawater.

Water activities, such as taking out banana boats or canoes, are most certainly possible.

Of the bays, the ‚Cala Llebeig’ is most certainly worth the trouble to visit. The white-grey rocks, covered with green and coloured flowers, are remarkable. Despite a height of +/- 10 metres, every once in a while you see a local fisherman taking on the challenge.

Other bays are the ‚Cala Cap Blanc’, ‚Cala Portixol’ and ‚Cala Andragó’.
